Quick and easy to implement as part of your environmental policy

Various companies (including KLM and Peeze Koffie) and government institutes are already pouring tea and coffee into Moonen Natural cups. This 100% environmentally-friendly coffee cup is made from natural, renewable materials. The coffee cup is quick and easy to implement and therefore provides an immediate contribution to a company’s environmental policy.

Central government authorities, who are required to achieve 100% sustainable procurement by 2010, are also replacing plastic cups with this environmentally-friendly version, as are local authorities. Just like environmentally-friendly copier paper, replacing coffee cups is one of the most widely adopted initiatives when it comes to sustainable purchasing.
KLM, listed by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as number one within the travel sector, has replaced its plastic cups with the Moonen Natural Hot Cup printed with a KLM design. KLM is the first airline in the world to use these coffee and tea cups on all its intercontinental and European flights. “This environmentally-friendly cup fits in perfectly with our policy on sustainability. Our on-board staff are also enthusiastic. The cup is light-weight, easy to handle and takes up less space than our old plastic cups,” says Bart Vos, Executive Vice President of Inflight Services at KLM. “And the cups also look attractive.”

Peeze Koffie proves that good coffee can taste just as nice from cardboard cups, with a compostable coffee cup in full keeping with the company’s house style. “The Moonen Natural Hot Cup allows us to contribute to a better environment and a sustainable world and we are proud of this fact!” says Timmo Terpstra, Director at Peeze Koffie.

The 100% environmentally-friendly coffee cup is completely made from renewable vegetable-based materials and therefore complies with the European standard for compostable products EN-13432. In short, because it is 100% environmentally-friendly, it was decided to have this coffee cup certified as a Cradle to Cradle product. The aim of the Cradle to Cradle concept is for used raw materials to be re-used or composted without loss of quality.

The Moonen Natural assortment has developed into a full line of environmentally-friendly packaging and disposables, produced from renewable vegetable-based materials. A cup suitable for coffee machines will also make its appearance within the next few months. Moonen Packaging will soon be able to offer a closed eco-cycle. After use, the cup can be used as raw materials for new paper products (such as boxes and toilet paper) or as plant food, which fits in perfectly with the Cradle to Cradle concept.
