Products that meet the European standard for biological degradability EN-13432 are eligible for the seedling logo. Products that carry the seedling logo can be disposed of as organic waste, without any negative influences on the composting process and the quality of the compost.

This does not mean that certified products are only useful if these are composted. Due to the high calorific value and low pollution, burning products with energy recovery is an excellent processing alternative.

The seedling logo helps consumers to recognize these products. As such these products are indistinguishable from conventional plastics. Approved products are checked on a regular basis to see whether they comply with the set requirements.
